Henriksen describes his personal style as a “redefined Old World look,” which offers his clients a more transitional, casual elegance. “If it’s well made, I am naturally drawn to it. There is a lot of very beautiful design carried over from the old English or Spanish colonial style which absorbs the indigenous interpretation of furnishings of the countries where they had influence,” he said.

In addition to hand-selecting stunning furnishings, New Look Interiors strives to get to know their customers by empowering them to set goals and working with them to create the environment they’ve always dreamed of. The first step is to arrange for an initial complimentary in-home consultation, where a designer will visit the client’s space and explore the existing contents of their home. “Nowadays customers understand better the idea of an eclectic style. It allows them much more freedom in how to set up the interior of their home. When they are traveling about, they pick up items, get an antique, and in an eclectic setting it will never look out of place,” explained Henriksen.

No matter what the client’s preference, New Look Interiors gathers information and pulls the interior design together, from choosing brand new furniture and accessories to composing custom window treatments. “They do as little or as much as you need,” said Kathleen Abrardo, “from selecting the paint samples to the backsplash in the kitchen.” When Abrardo and her husband first had the designers of New Look Interiors over to their newly-purchased townhouse, it was a blank canvas. “Even though we didn’t know what we wanted, they helped us figure it out,” said Abrardo. “They told us to go outside and ring the doorbell of our house for the first time. When we rang the doorbell, they opened our front door and said ‘Tell us how you want your family and friends to feel when they come in.’ Now our home is so incredibly beautiful and beyond anything my husband, Joseph, and I had ever envisioned having. We recently hosted a party and one of our guests said to me, ‘Your home is so warm and welcoming,’ and I got so teary-eyed because that is exactly what we asked for from New Look Interiors when they opened our front door. I’ve never met such honest, creative and wonderful people.”
